Reeds Target Shooting Club actively recruits new members: the only people who we cannot allow to join us are ‘prohibited persons’, who are people that have served a custodial sentence for certain serious crimes, and are banned from possessing or handling firearms. All prospective members or persons wishing to join are required to sign a statement declaring that they are not a prohibited person and take up probationary membership.
In short, a prohibited person is a person who has been imprisoned for a sentence of 3 or more years. Persons who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment, or given a suspended sentence for 3 months or more but less than 3 years must not possess firearms until five years have passed since the date of release (or from the second date after the sentence is passed where it is suspended).
